Weddings are magical events.
My family weddings are beyond awesome. It’s like a family reunion on steroids. The only family “reunion” I recall is when we all went up to a house on a small lake (maybe it was even a pond) near Lake George in Upstate New York. It was fun. I stayed with my cousin Shannon before heading up to the Pond House, so that was, even more, fun. My Uncle Lance used to come to my house on Long Island and drive me up to their house in Newburgh so I could spend some extra time with them. They had a trampoline…and then a pool! Things I didn’t have at my house. Plus Shannon and Brittany lived there, which let’s face it is the best part hands down. The family time in Lake George includes rowing around the pond and a trip on the Minnie Ha Ha on Lake George. The video that my uncle took from that voyage induces motion sickness from what I recall. Other family gatherings that weren’t centered around a holiday include apple picking, hay rides, and hot apple cider.
Have I told you how much I love my family?
My mom is one of nine. Thanks to this woman…
This fabulous wedding was for one of my 40ish cousins, Kate and her betrothed Ian. Kate is the daughter of my mom’s youngest brother. (Yes, my mom’s younger siblings are grandparents before her. Sorry mom. I’m not quite there yet.) My uncle knows how to throw a party. My cousin knows how to decorate. (She has her own company and is the one who was in charge of the design of the venue.) Her sense of style and meticulous eye for detail were evident in all aspects of the wedding day. I could go on with the compliments all day!
The new Mr. and Mrs. Hunt were a stunning couple. Kate’s dress fit her to a T, in fit and personality. My mom didn’t even bother waiting for the dancing to start. She made me get on the dance floor with here while everyone else had taken their seats. Not like I am totally opposed to being paid attention to, but I don’t need to be the only two people on the dance floor at someone else wedding. It’s cool. I guess dad turned her down so how could I possibly do that to my beloved. It was far from the only time we danced that night. My family has this thing at weddings where we don’t sit until the band has to repeat themselves at least three times asking us to please be seated.
I’m not sure about every table, but I don’t think anyone at Table 7 ate their cake do to the fact that no one put their butts back in the seats after dinner was complete. (I know I didn’t) I was too busy getting pictures of everyone. (I promised gma pictures because her camera was not
working) We’ve got some excellent dancers in the family. There was a lot of video footage for Snapchat! If you missed my snaps for that night I’m glad bc I’m not the best singer in the world…’Nuff said.
Of course, we had an after party with snacks, smores, and an acoustic guitarist. There was even another gathering on Sunday, but you know since I had already had two days I had to go to work on Sunday afternoon. It’s cool. I ha
It’s cool. I had so much fun catching up with my beautiful cousins. I have to go to Florida and upstate and out east again to see them anytime before the next wedding in July, but that’s the best part of having a large family, right? Getting free nights and sightseeing when you go to visit!
Thank you for sharing your time with me! Love you, Beautiful People.
